Dream Team members Remy and Lucy were fitted for their new Trek Domane road bikes at Bike World this evening after being named the first recipients of the Harlan Nagel Scholarship. Harlan was a passionate cyclist who rode 21 RAGBRAIs. Harlan’s friends and family from across the country launched the scholarship fund to honor Harlan after witnessing the impact that Dream Team is having on young cyclists.
Lucy joined the Dream Team in 2018 not knowing how to ride a bicycle, but she worked hard and easily completed her first RAGBRAI that July. One year later, she rode her first RAGBRAI Century Ride from Indianola to Centerville. A senior at Des Moines Roosevelt, Lucy is planning to attend Grand View University where she will study computer programming and game design.
Remy has been a member of Dream Team since 2019. He completed his first RAGBRAI Century Ride in 2021, riding from Waterloo to Anamosa. In June of 2022, Remy represented Dream Team on a live, hour-long interview with Iowa Public Radio’s Talk of Iowa. Remy is a senior at Winterset High School and is planning to attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in chemistry.
